Questions to the former Archbishop Dr Rowan Williams

Dr Rowan Williams answers questions from students

As Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, was the senior bishop of the Church of England. He was the bishop for the diocese of Canterbury (the local churches in most of Kent) and his work as a Christian leader throughout England and internationally was rooted in that role.

Dr Williams was also the focus of unity of the Anglican Communion, a family of churches with 85 million members in more than 165 countries around the world. This meant that the former Archbishop had a special responsibility for helping build relationships between churches across the Anglican Communion. On this page you can see Dr Williams’ answers to questions posed to him (whilst still archbishop) by students at St Edward’s School, Windsor.

“How do you think about science and religion – are they in conflict in your view?”

Different faiths

The second question is, “As there are many different faiths in the world, how do you know which one is ‘right’?”

More questions and answers

In the videos below you’ll find many more questions that the Archbishop addressed. They include – “Why do Natural Disasters happen and kill so many people if God made the world?” and “Do you believe that the Adam and Eve story is literally true?”
